Duties

Help
  • You will identify and analyze problems and issues concerning the work, determines interrelationships involved and determines appropriate methods and techniques to resolve matters.
  • You will serve as identification (ID) card clerk.
  • You will maintain training manuals and user guides.
  • You will coordinate with other military installation in authenticating and validating requests for CACs, ID cards and enrollment updates.
  • You will coordinate with DEERS Support Office and RAPIDS Assistance Center to resolve related problems.

Qualifications

TYPING REQUIREMENT: This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Controlling the receipt and accountability of a variety of ID Cards, (e.g., Common Access Cards (CAC) & ID Cards);
  • Issuing ID cards and preparing accountability reports and statements;
  • Processing enrollment applications;
  • Responding to a variety of telephonic and written inquiries regarding processes and regulations, (e.g., pertaining to eligibility for Uniformed Services CACs, ID Cards, etc …;
  • Preparing correspondence using office automation equipment and word processing; AND
  • Using personal computer to extract, revise, or sort information from files, records, or databases; and automated systems, (e.g., DEERS and RAPIDS) to use word processing software to prepare documents.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: Four (4) years successfully completed education above high school level that was obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.

The work is sedentary and may require sitting, walking, standing, bending and carrying light items.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
Military Spouse Preference applicants will receive priority consideration at the Full Performance Level (FPL) and if determined to be Best Qualified at the FPL, and selected, must be placed at the FPL. A BQ military spouse possesses knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies comparable to others who meet the competitive referral criteria for the specific position.

PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.
