Identifies, cultivates, and solicits prospects at the major and principal gifts level, focusing on campaign gifts.
Works with colleagues across the Gallery to develop proposals and giving opportunities to support the strategic initiatives of the museum.
Supports Gallery program leadership in fundraising activities including cultivation, briefing, and solicitation activities.
Ensures campaign giving activities are well-integrated with other fundraising and stewardship activities of the development team and helps the Gallery achieve its overall development goals.
Sets short- and long-term goals for campaign volunteer committee(s) and develops strategies to achieve those goals.
The incumbent performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities: plans work to be accomplished; sets and adjusts priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work. However, it equates to less than 25% of their duty time.

Qualifications
Candidates must meet the Qualifications Standards Handbook requirements for the NF-0301-15.
NF-15: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the federal NF-14 level, eliciting major philanthropic gifts from the private sector while campaigning for raising funds for an arts-based organization.
Those applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be evaluated against these factors to determine the best-qualified candidates. Applicants must describe their possession of each of these factors individually in a one to two page cover letter as a part of their application.
Mastery knowledge of National Gallery of Art policies and procedures sufficient to manage a major fundraising campaign to elicit philanthropic gifts from the private sector in support of the Gallery mission.
Mastery knowledge of and ability to apply fundraising theories, pertinent regulations, strategies, and practices pertaining to nonprofit organizations and annual giving programs.
Fully conversant in the objectives and overall design and operation principles of the Gallery’s financial, administrative and development policies, procedures, and regulations and thorough knowledge of various giving arrangements.
Mastery knowledge and ability to apply analytical and evaluative techniques sufficient to be proficient in analyzing and evaluating fundraising programs, thinking strategically, formulating long-range program goals, and developing strategies to achieve those goals.
Ability to supervise others, delegate, establish priorities effectively, set deadlines, and take corrective actions with subordinates.

Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations.
