Duties

Help
  • You will serve as the IT Specialist (SYSADMIN/CUSTSPT) in the Information Technology Department, N6, of Navy Region Reserve Component Command Southwest, San Diego, CA.
  • You will review, approve, and track to completion all local service requests and all NMCI Area Customer Technical Representative (ACTR) requests for creating, moving and de-activating accounts. (Move/Add/Change, M/A/C's).
  • You will approve and review requests for any hardware changes, equipment moves, network installation, software installations and facility changes (physical and administrative M/A/Cs).
  • You will handle all aspects of all aspects of e-Marketplace administration to include user training, access control invoicing and e-forms for M/A/C submissions in the NMCI environment.
  • You will provide users advice and notification in regards to security issues affecting both NMCI and non-NMCI systems.
  • You will assist as a member of a team for the accomplishment of special studies or projects, and coordinate efforts to implement mandatory technical standards of legacy systems.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:.

1) Attention to Detail- Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

2) Customer Service- Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3) Oral Communication- Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4) Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to your experience demonstrating the competencies above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

*Experience creating and administering logon user accounts, email accounts trouble ticket accounts and other logon accounts in a domain environment.
*Experience utilizing methods and practices for troubleshooting, adjusting, modifying and improving IT systems.
*Experience communicating effectively orally and in writing with managers, contractors, and
incumbents at all levels to negotiate changes, resolve differences and problems, etc.
*Experience applying security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of data management services.

Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE

Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position for the GS-09 position:

Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

Prefers applicant holds or maintains Security + certification or equivalent IT degree from an accredited institution and IAM Level 1 Certification.
