Duties

Brief Description of Duties:

  • Coordinates all transcript requests both non-appeal and appeal and disseminates to an individual court reporter or transcription branch for preparation.
  • Maintains a production log for all assigned reporters.
  • Reviews worksheets, transcripts, and invoices submitted by court reporters for accuracy.
  • Assists customers in person at the front counter and via phone with office procedures for ordering transcripts.
  • Corresponds with internal and external customers via email.
  • Provides a monthly report on court reporter transcript production.
  • Monitors the Web Voucher System (WVS) and Web Transcript Tracking System (WTTS) for transcript requests.
  • Tracks payments received by federal agencies to ensure all outstanding balances are reconciled.
  • Closes out cash drawer at the end of the day to ensure balances for payments received for the Transcription Branch are accurate.
  • Acts as a team player to help the office run efficiently and effectively.
  • Reviews and validates check payments received from customers over the counter (payee name, dc bar number, etc.)
  • Processes all tape and/or transcription branch copy orders.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience in an office performing administrative and accounting-related tasks such as cash handling, bookkeeping, or similar duties in a court or legal environment.

A bachelors degree is preferred.

Must be able to type 40 words per minute. 

Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts is required.  If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted.
