Duties

Help

Plans and carries out difficult and complex assignments and develops new methods, approaches, and procedures. Uses network management methods, network enterprise architectures, bandwidth management concepts, workflow concepts and acceptable industry practices to manage large and complex networks. Using advanced network technologies, network architecture and project management methods leads the implementation of major projects including upgrading hubs and switches, consolidating regional networks, and redesigning network infrastructure in response to changes in network technologies or requirements. Develops contingency and recovery plans. Maintains directory services. Manages domain name services. Provides intranet, Internet, or extranet gateways. Coordinates other actions to ensure the implementation of networks that support mission requirements. Provides technical leadership on group projects. Interprets IT policies, standards and guidelines. Evaluates, tests, recommends and implements new or emerging technologies, network devices, and network system software. Serves as the subject matter expert in the specialty. Interfaces with senior managers to determine requirements. Presents oral and written communications to senior management and external organizations. Applies information security and information assurance policy, principles, and practices.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME. GOVERNMENT POSITIONS MUST INCLUDE PAY PLAN, SERIES, GRADE, TO AND FROM DATES, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCY/DEPARTMENT. Must include at least one year of experience performing duties at a level which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform successfully in the position.

Progressive experience in information technology positions which includes one year of specialized experience in the planning and delivery of a full range of network services to support business requirements, i.e. wide variety of network applications, operating systems, protocols and equipment used in customer organizations; and methods and practices for trouble shooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving network systems. The experience must be equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level (including private sector equivalent).

Or A doctorate degree in computer science, information science, information systems management, technology management, or doctorate degree in other disciplines which included at least 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above. The education must have included coursework in the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.

In addition to the above, candidates must possess:.
1. Attention to Detail: Demonstrated experience performing complex network installations and remote configuration of various network devices.
2. Customer Service: Demonstrated experience reporting, responding to, and resolving network service requests. Experience in remote troubleshooting and repair with tier 1 onsite support.
3. Communication: Demonstrated experience preparing presentations, delivering network training, and communicating complex network issues telephonically to customers in remote locations.
4. Problem Solving: Demonstrated experience in evaluating/troubleshooting network systems (design, testing, installation, operations, management, and maintenance), and developing solutions to improve network performance, resolve customer problems.

Highly preferred:
Experience creating budgets to support network funding of hardware and software purchases.
Experience of familiarity with the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), including applying RMF practices and procedures to systems, drafting and reviewing standard RMF documentation.
