Duties

Help
  • Serve as a Budget Analyst in a brigade sized element or equivalent.
  • Exercise daily fund control and resource management through accounting, budgeting, and management-financial reporting programs.
  • Exercise responsibility for the formulation and execution of the funding programs as they pertain to mission requirements.
  • Manage various types of financial management programs and relative transactions for the organization.
  • Represent the organization at resources management conferences and meetings.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the implementation of the organization’s program budget process.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managing financial programs to ensure full utilization of funds; 2) developing basic procedures or policies for the organization's budget process; 3) providing advice to management on budgetary matters; 4) validating that funds are available to meet mission requirements; 5) utilizing web-based systems to perform a wide variety of budgetary and analytical tasks, such as General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), Defense Travel System (DTS), or Government Travel Card (GTC); and 6) analyzing budget reports and recommending solutions to problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years (54 semester hours) of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Accounting, Auditing, Contracting, and Financial Analysis (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
