Duties

Help
  • As an Interdisciplinary (General Engineer, Architect, or Civil Engineer), you will perform the following duties at the full performance level:
  • Coordinate and monitor the development and maintenance of detailed information and data to assist in identifying and justifying projects for major new construction in support of assigned missions.
  • Review and prioritize project priorities locally and across the Combined Arms Center (CAC).
  • Complete submittal for technical adequacy and to ensure conformance with policy and compliance with public laws.
  • Coordinate projects with interested general and technical staff section in CAC and other Commands or services.
  • Recommend technical plans, objectives and undertakings which will provide more effective use of resources (funds, facilities, equipment, etc.).
  • Execute budget decisions affecting long and short-range courses of action for assigned projects.
  • Coordinate the planning, design, cost-engineering, construction and environmental considerations for projects.
  • Manage mission project milestones and budgets from the planning stage thru construction.
  • Validate mission space and construction requirements and works with mission activities and garrison staff to develop consensus on solutions to real property planning/use issues.
  • Review project progress, measuring performance and taking necessary corrective actions to maintain agreed upon schedule and cost.
  • Serve as a building manager and space utilization manager for buildings to develop and accomplish complete projects related to construction, remodeling, alternation, repair and maintenance of buildings.

This announcement will be used to fill ANY one of the following interdisciplinary positions - Civil Engineer General Engineer or Architect

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. This position has a basic education requirement. You must demonstrate at least one (1) year of the defined specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level AND meet the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR).

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience required(GS 12 level): One year of specialized experience which includes applying professional engineering principles to construction management and workflow processes; reviewing, coordinating and monitoring technical aspects of projects; reviewing plans, specifications and cost estimates; and designing and /or developing engineering projects involving areas such as construction, modification, alteration, building renovations including historical facilities and working with state historical society; assuring the structure or facility will be technically sound and meet user needs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Possession of a current, valid Professional Engineering (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) License in good standing issued by any one of the 50 states, or its territories is beneficial, but not required to qualify for the position.

Education

You must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
