Duties

Help

As a Senior Digital Preservation Specialist, you will:

  • Advise the Director and Deputy Director of Digital Preservation in the ongoing development, implementation, and operation of the digital preservation program as well as on recommendations for the development and implementation of digital preservation strategies, technologies, guidance, risk criteria, and procedures.
  • Participate in and manage in short- and long-term projects and initiatives related to the management and ongoing preservation of electronic record holdings.
  • Gathers, interprets, and analyzes highly complex data to discern patterns, trends, and relationships to draw conclusions about digital collections.
  • Serve as a digital preservation subject matter expert and provide consultation for colleagues internal and external to the agency.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the GS-13 level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position, and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must include:
  • Experience developing and implementing digital preservation strategies, technologies or procedures;
AND
  • Experience performing detailed analysis of electronic record file formats or digital preservation technologies in order to prepare risk analyses;
AND
  • Performing electronic record holding audits, providing recommendations, and performing digital preservation actions.

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):

For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
