Duties

Help
  • Provides advice and recommendations to Commanding General, Deputy Commander, District Commanders.
  • Prepare and execute department operating budget.
  • Coordinate decisions and actions with relevant individuals and functions.
  • Apply project management skills, knowledge, and abilities to oversee multiple projects to ensure successful delivery of the program safely, on time and within budget
  • Determine requirements for Division-wide emergency operations training including conduct of exercises for natural disasters, technological and other man-made disasters, and military contingencies.
  • Maintain effective lines of communication and working relationships with industry partners to be responsive to industry concerns.
  • Responsible for establishing mission command during crisis events to organize and utilize the capabilities within the Division.
  • Serves as primary point-of-contact for all aspects of emergency operations activities.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to the Regional Security Officer.
  • Maintains liaison to ensure effective communication and coordination with officials of other Federal, state, and local governmental agencies.

  • This is a MISSION ESSENTIAL position. Incumbent is subject to recall in times of emergency and inclement weather conditions.
  • Performance of the duties and responsibilities for this position may require the incumbent to make Temporary Duty (TDY) trips of both short and/or long duration to locations in U.S.
  • TDY may be in remote and somewhat dangerous locations and living conditions may be extremely austere.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a "Condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical.
  • The incumbent may be required to take part in preparedness training exercises or other training activities.

In order to qualify, you must meet the EXPERIENCE requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes: Oversight and interpretation of program data as it relates to project schedules, manpower and budget; Coordination with internal and external stakeholders and Supervision, leadership, or extensive experience working with and/or directing emergency management or security programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14)
