Duties

Help
  • Order, inventory, inspect, store, rotate and issue disposable and reusable, clean and sterile items to wards, clinics, and operating rooms.
  • Operate and adjust dental equipment and dental x-ray equipment.
  • Assists dentist provide treatments to patients.
  • Operate various kinds of processing equipment (i.e. Washer sanitizers, ultrasonic instrument cleaners, cart washers/decontaminator, ethylene oxide, and steam and gas plasma sterilizers) when sterilizing tools and equipment.
  • Inventory supplies, instruments and equipment to determine reordering needs.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • Must possess and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate of training.
  • Uniform will be required.
  • Incumbent will be required to receive seasonal influenza immunization.
  • Must be certified as a radiographer and have successfully completed an educational program that meets or exceeds the standards described in 42 CFR Part 75.
  • This position requires the ability to lift 15 lbs.
  • Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes decontaminating and sterilizing dental/medical instruments to be used for treatments; utilizing chemical, biological, and/or mechanical systems in order to test the operation of equipment to determine effectiveness of sterilization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as, Biochemistry, Science in Physics, Molecular Biology, Biological Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry or other fields related to the position. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification).

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
