About the position: This position will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron, Outdoor Recreation Center, Fairchild AFB, WA.

The purpose of this position is to assist in planning, developing, conducting and evaluating recreational programs intended to improve readiness, contribute to high morale, and build cohesion for all authorized patrons for Fairchild AFB, WA.

This is a Regular Full time position; guaranteed 35-40 hours per week; depending on the needs of the facility.

Duties

Help

Assists in the overall economic and efficient operation of the Outdoor Recreation Program. Programs include, but are not limited to the following: Outdoor Adventure Program, Indoor Aquatics Center, Clear Lake Resort, Family Camp, Equipment Checkout, Outdoor Storage and Vehicle Sales Lots, and on base parks. Implements higher level directives, formulates procedures and programs to ensure high standards of recreational and promotional programs. Works with the Director to establish financial goals to commensurate with market analysis of the area. Continuously evaluates effectiveness of ongoing recreational activities. Adapts and varies program activities to effectively accept the conditions of the natural environment and conditions which exist in the geographic area. Advises on budget preparation and helps maintain solid financial condition of the overall program. Responsible for workforce management, recruitment, and staff training. Manages real property resources and provides expert advice on renovation, improvements, minor and major construction. Recognizes and takes appropriate action to correct situations posing a threat to the health or safety of subordinates and the physical security of resources. Performs other duties as assigned. May act as Director during the absence of the supervisor.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must have at least two (2) years of progressively responsible administrative, professional, technical or other work which has provided a general knowledge of management principles and practices or progressively responsible experience in one or more areas of the functions in the Outdoor Recreation Program. Supervisory experience is required. Degree in Recreation or a comparable field is desirable. Knowledge and experience of budget cycles and non-appropriated/appropriated fund budget. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to work in an environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels, high or low temperatures, and demanding physical activity. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty.

Condition(s) of Employment:
Satisfactory completion of a Tier 1 background check is required.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position maybe allowed for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
