Duties

Help
  • Responsible on a continuing basis for the coordination of the I Corps/(MAMC) Delayed Evacuation Casualty Management (DECM), PMDB-M (Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior-Military) ICTL and Medic Tables I - VIII (TC8-800) programs.
  • Ensure the completion of the following mission essential tasks: provide high quality initial training; soldiers can perform in technical and tactical environments; and provides impetus for sustainment training to maintain readiness.
  • Plan and instruct classes such as shock management, Airway, Advanced Airway, basic medication, cardiopulmonary pulmonary resuscitation, and management of bleeding in accordance with current treatment strategies.
  • Present instruction in the form of lecture, conference, group discussions and practical exercises in Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) techniques.
  • Write and revise lesson plans and practical exercises and select requisitions and organize training aids.
  • Instruct courses in 68W Combat Medic Sustainment such as Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TC3), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Trauma AIMS, Individual Critical Task List (ICTL).
  • Delayed Evacuation Casualty Management (DECM), and continuing education courses for EMT.
  • Develop, administer and grade written and practical examinations.
  • Evaluate course content and recommend changes and Coordinate Healthcare Specialists Training Program.
  • Coordinate with all department personnel, combat arms units, Reserve and National Guard Units as well as other Military Services regarding updated lesson plans, training objectives and new combat information.

  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Education and/or Experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates the methods and techniques for the instruction of, which includes instructing on or conducting individual or group training related to life saving techniques such as, Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or First Aid. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service(GS-07).

OR

Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level Health Care Instructor graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Health Care Administration, Health Care Instructor or Emergency Medicine. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
