Duties

Help
  • Serves as the aquatics manager responsible for managing and supervising the aquatic programs for an AFRC activity.
  • Conducts all the necessary coordination of various details for reoccurring and nonrecurring aquatic, fitness, instructional, and joint community programs.
  • Adapts and varies the program based on results and findings. Ensures that required safe guards and internal controls are present to prevent injuries and accidents, or the loss of assets and property.
  • Ensures that the necessary personnel, equipment, supplies and services are available to accomplish assigned functions. Interviews and selects staff and provides orientation, training and supervision.
  • Participates in and or leads the planning process that results in providing a wide range of fairly typical, conventional and well-established basic aquatic activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty, as well as irregular duties or when needed for special events and related requirements.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Successful on-going participation in department training programs as they relate to health and safety is continually required.
  • All required certifications must be obtained within specified time and kept current.
  • Failure to complete the required certification will result in removal from employment.
  • Appointment subject to favorable suitability determination.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, administering and executing aquatic programs. This experience may have been gained managing indoor or outdoor recreational or competitive aquatic programs and facilities.
Possession of the following certificates is a requirement:
  • Current lifeguard certification
  • Current First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent
  • Current Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Pool Operator certification
  • Current Certification in Water Safety Instructor

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Recruitment Incentive may be authorized.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid..
