About the Position: Serves as Liaison Specialist and Unit Public Affairs Representative in the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) under the general supervision and direction of the SRU Deputy to the Commander. Responsible for planning, evaluating, developing, coordinating and personally overseeing all aspects of the liaison program for the SRU.

Duties

Help
  • Plans, directs, and assists the arrangement, coordination, and execution of programs and events for the Soldier Recovery Unit (SRU) and other tenant activities.
  • Works with Public Affairs Offices (PAO) from Regional Health Command (RHC), Naval Support Activity Bethesda, and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
  • Plans and executes activities relating to visits of high-level leaders and foreign dignitaries.
  • Develops plans for official and social visits and functions.
  • Interfaces with Travel Coordinator and other offices to arrange transportation and flights for visitors.
  • Prepares policies and procedures governing all facets of planning for official and social events.
  • Plans, coordinates, and carries out ceremonies for retirements, awards, promotions, and transfer of authority.
  • Attends social and official events to oversee activities.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1. Plan and coordinate visits/itineraries for distinguished visitors or official events, AND 2. Create content for online media and print channels (i.e. facebook, twitter, Instagram, Flickr), AND 3. Create or edit articles, press releases, news stories or photo submissions.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
