Summary

As a Supervisor, Security Operations Service Area Manager within the NASA Cyber Security Service Line, Cyber Security and Privacy Division, you will be responsible for the day-to-day cyber security operations leadership leading the Security Operations Service Area, Security Operations Center, and Cybersecurity Incident Response Team. You will lead a team of distributed cyber security operations experts in conducting defensive cyberspace operations and cybersecurity incident response.

Duties

Help
  • Manage the planning, direction, and execution of Cyber Security Operations Service Area; and providing administrative and technical oversight to subordinate staff.
  • Plan, develop, and implement Service Area and program requirements in the areas of work force management, budgets, schedules, and contracts to improve the effectiveness and value of NASA Security Operations services.
  • Lead NASA's Security Operations Center to perform proactive 24/7/365 cybersecurity monitoring, detection, prevention, protection, mitigation, and remediation services; and reactively respond to, mitigate, and remediate cybersecurity incidents.
  • Lead the Cybersecurity Incident Response Team in performing cybersecurity incident response, digital forensics, and cyber threat hunting; and reactively respond to, mitigate, and remediate security incidents.
  • Work with stakeholders to propose or develop highly effective solutions for resolving computer security incidents and ensure compliance through tools and processes that enable proactive activities to prevent or respond to cyber incidents.
  • Manage ongoing cyber threats against the NASA enterprise and respond to network/system breaches (actual or attempted intrusion, computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, etc.), utilizing in-depth knowledge of Defensive Cyber Operations principles.
  • Maintain and leverage a robust network of cyber defenders as well as other intelligence components to better understand identified intrusion sets and deviations and to build better defensive cybersecurity operations strategies.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:

  • Leading a geographically distributed cyber organization including planning, developing, and implementing cybersecurity requirements in the areas of work force management, budgets, schedules, and contracts;
  • Working with stakeholders to develop highly effective solutions for resolving cybersecurity incidents and ensuring compliance through tools and processes that enable proactive activities to prevent or respond to cyber incidents;
  • Maintaining and leveraging a robust network of cyber defenders as well as intelligence components to better understand identified intrusion sets and deviations and to build better defensive cybersecurity operations strategies.
AND

You MUST also have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below:
