About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available.   • Serves as working leader of 5 employees.
  • Answers workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.
  • Observe work in progress and quality of workmanship to ensure proper materials and Personal Protective Equipment are being used
  • Prepare coating materials, such as those for obtaining special effects by tinting, toning, matching, blending, and mixing-in agents and retardants to get the proper color, texture, consistency, and drying state required
  • Ensures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Painter Leader (Direct Hiring Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision. I can perform common Painter Leader duties such as issuing instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines, while setting the pace. I can observe work in progress to determine preparation of metal surfaces for painting, mix paints and other surfacing materials, base materials, thinners, and pigments. I work under normal supervision of a work superior who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT- The incumbent is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work is performed from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms and where the surfaces to be coated are in cramped and hard to reach places. The incumbent frequently lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment that weight up to 10 pounds and may occasionally handle materials and equipment that weight approximately 40 pounds or more.

  • WORKING CONDITIONS- Work is performed both in and out of doors where dirt, spray, and fumes are usually present. Outside work occasionally requires exposure to bad weather. Incumbent may be required to wear uncomfortable protective equipment and clothing. Is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises and occasionally to the possibility of broken bones

Education
