Duties

Help
  • Promote awareness of the nature of family violence.
  • Serve as the primary subject matter expert on all matters involving domestic violence and child abuse.
  • Provide command information regarding emerging prevention and treatment issues and trends, and results of prevention programs conducted.
  • Provide crisis intervention, intake and referral for active-duty military and family members.
  • Oversee operation of a 24-hour crisis line.
  • Identify Family Advocacy Program resource requirements and provide budget input.
  • Direct work through subordinate supervisor and/or team leads to ensure work is accomplished by employees and contract employees.
  • Responsible for the Child Problematic Sexual Behavior team.
  • Responsible for all data analysis dealing with spouse and child abuse.
  • Responsible for all Family Advocacy Trainings and briefings on installation.
  • Responsible for running all committees dealing with spouse and child abuse, Incident Determination Committee, Fatality Review board, etc.
  • Maintain partnership with outside resources for awareness of domestic violence.
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing plan for prevention of domestic violence.

  • This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for a Supervisory Social Worker:

Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes promoting awareness of family violence prevention programs to include child abuse and domestic violence; publicizing services available to deal with family violence problems; and providing crisis intervention, intake and referral services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education
