Duties

Help

You will be responsible for Level 1 - preventive maintenance; Level II - corrective maintenance and repairs; and Level III - Job Orders (replacement projects) utilizing the basic building/construction trades (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing and equipment operations) at Sector New York, Fort Wadsworth (Staten Island) Rosebank (Staten Island) and the Battery Park Building (Manhattan)

Being a civilian working for the U.S. Coast Guard makes you a valuable team member.  Typical duties include:

* Installing, repairing, overhauling and/or performing service and preventative maintenance on a variety of commercial and residential equipment including air conditioners, air compressors, oil/gas fired low pressure steam and hot water boilers, furnaces controls and ancillary equipment.

* Troubleshooting and diagnoses equipment to trace and locate defects and malfunctions. 

* Cleaning, lubricating and repacking the working parts of the system.

* Performing installation, maintenance, and repairs to air conditioning units up to 200 tons.

* Installing water and drain lines from building services to equipment.
