Duties

Help

In this position, you will perform a variety of supply duties related to functions such as logistics, inventory management, and distribution.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments at the GS-09 level:

  • Performing recurring assignments, operations, and procedures involving property and/or equipment management, coordination, and control for a local inventory management program.
  • Performing analytical assignments involving specific issues associated with a single technical supply specialization or operations.
  • Maintaining inventory for items form readily available sources of supply, or items that reflect relatively stable patters of demand.
  • Assisting in the receipt of supplies from vendor sources, filling supply orders from stock, and expediting emergency requests for supply.
  • Developing and installing procedures and techniques for the storage of items and supplies.
  • Assisting in the evaluation and assessment of the logistics program and identifying recurring issues that need to be resolved through continuous planning, logistics development, and implementation of the support capabilities.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-09 level applicants must possess one full year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  EXAMPLES of specialized experience include compiling, analyzing, and summarizing information relating to supply requirements; developing plans for resolving questions; defining stock levels and frequency of re-ordering; and providing support in buying, storing, and transferring supplies.

Education may be substituted for experience as follows:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related;

or equivalent combinations of experience and education.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
