Duties

Help
  • At the GS-05 you will perform developmental duties as assigned. At the full performance level (GS-06) you will perform the following:
  • You will manage shipments in both storage-in-transit and non-temporary storage.
  • You will act as the point of contact for all household goods shipment management functions related to invoicing, storage-in-transit and non-temporary storage and providing quality assurance oversight.
  • You will approve/disapprove invoices and pre-approve accessorial services submitted by Transportation Service Providers (TSP)/contractors.
  • You will notify TSPs/contractors if shipment is to be converted to commercial storage.

Qualifications

GS-05:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing work that demonstrates knowledge and application of transportation/traffic management principles, methods, and regulations related to the storage and movement of personal property. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Utilizing automated systems to process personal property shipments; 2) Assist in calculating shipment costs and reviewing billing statements; 3) Assist in preparing shipping documents; 4) Providing customer support while performing shipment and storage functions.

GS-06:
Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates knowledge and application of transportation/traffic management principles, methods, and regulations in order to resolve problems in connection with the storage and movement of personal property such as household goods, privately owned vehicles, etc. by government or commercial means. Examples of specialized experience may include the following: 1) Utilizing automated systems to process personal property shipments; 2) Calculating, reviewing, and approving shipment costs, billing statements, and invoicing functions; 3) Preparing shipping documentation which may include determining excess cost; 4) Providing customer support while performing shipment and storage functions.
