This announcement is open to: All U.S. Citizens who reside or is currently employed in the Boyers, PA local commuting area which includes the Pennsylvania counties of Butler, Clarion, Armstrong, Allegheny, Beaver, Lawrence, Mercer, Crawford, Erie, Venango, Jefferson, Indiana, and Westmorland; Ohio counties of Columbiana, Trumbull, and Mahoning; and all cities existing in Pennsylvania or Ohio within the geographic area bounded by the outer boundaries of the combined areas of the aforementioned counties.

As a INVESTIGATIONS TECHNICIAN you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • As an Investigations Technician you will be responsible for providing administrative and technical support with the oversight and administration of contracts performing support for the personnel background investigations for DCSA.
  • The incumbent under the direction of the Program Manager and Supervisor is responsible for providing assistance with monitoring and overseeing the processes performed by contractors within DCSA FIRE Operations area of responsibility.
  • The incumbent must possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and professionalism and willingness to accept responsibility for assigned tasks, skills in applying basic data gathering methods to collect, organize and report various types of factual information, and knowledge of office hardware and software to produce narrative reports, graphics, and spreadsheets.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.

You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade (GS/GG-04) in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience.
Specialized experience for this position includes:

  • Gathering, assembling, organizing, and analyzing facts and information to determine solutions to solve operational problems;
  • Utilizing various personal and commercial computer software (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, Power Point, Excel, calendar, etc) to accomplish tasks;
  • Preparing, tracking, and monitoring correspondence, reports, and items for an agency;
  • Responding to general inquires, administrative issues and notify staff members of information request to ensure timely responses.
  • Or have successfully completed four years of post-high-school education.

Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies:

4.Writing - Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material that is appropriate for the intended audience.

5.Information Management - Identifies a need for and knows where or how to gather information; organizes and maintains information or information management systems.

If substituting education for experience, at the GG-05 level, you must have successfully completed four years of post-high-school education.

VETERANS PREFERENCE/CURRENT OR FORMER FEDERAL
