Duties

Help
  • Developing and applying innovative assessment techniques and engineering analyses on coastal and regional marine transportation systems
  • Experience and/or willingness to cross interdisciplinary specialties in the areas of coastal and riverine sediment processes, statistics, programming and working with large spatio-temporal datasets, programming and technical writing.
  • Proficient in Python, including creating and working with functions, large matrices, and performance improvement techniques.
  • Understand optimization algorithms and associated tradeoffs between accuracy and computational requirements.
  • Application of optimization methods to objective functions involving complex, computationally expensive numerical models, understanding the physics being modeled, and the ability to compare available alternative methods.
  • Candidate should have strong skills in applying foundational concepts of probability and statistics
  • Proficient with GIS functions. This includes working with regional spatial datasets at various temporal scales.
  • Ability to convey results concisely to federal and local sponsors through written reports and oral communication.
