Duties

Help
  • Advises Garrison Chaplain on multiple faith groups in matters of religious education and youth ministry
  • Reviews policies from higher headquarters and advises on actions necessary to establish policy framework for religious education and youth ministry.
  • Assesses religious education needs of junior enlisted personnel, young married couples, NCOs, officers, military civilians, family members, DOD contractors, and retirees through use of surveys, questionnaires, and personal community involvement.
  • Assesses resource needs and deficits in order to meet the needs of religious education programming across the installation.
  • Develops installation Religious Education marketing and advertising plan with emphasis on religious education and youth ministry.
  • Provides for training and mentoring of religious education and youth ministry.
  • Promotes Chaplains religious education and youth ministry volunteer recognition program.
  • Administers all religious education and youth ministry programs

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Chief of Chaplains requires that candidates meet the following minimum qualifications (See AR-165-1) Basic Requirements:

Degree
: A Master's degree with a major or minor in Religious Education (or spiritual formation).

OR

Degree
: A graduate degree in any discipline which must include a minimum of 24 credit hours in Religious Education (or spiritual formation).

AND

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least 2 years of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience of documented professional experience leading a religion-based education program.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education

The Chief of Chaplains requires that only applicants who have been certified at a grade equivalent to or higher than the stated grade of this position or those currently serving in validated ARMY RE positions at the GS-11 level or above will be considered fully qualified applicants.
