Duties

Help
  • You will coordinate a productivity improvement program for facilities maintenance.
  • You will conduct quality control inspections of repairs, maintenance, or construction efforts performed by contractors to verify compliance with facility development.
  • You will evaluate facility utility systems and service requirements for maintenance standards compliance.
  • You will evaluate possible approaches and solutions to unusual maintenance and repair problems using technical judgment, experience, and exploration of available resources.
  • You will interface with facility management to resolve construction issues within an organization.
  • You will collaborate with supervisors or project managers to establish facilities work priorities.
  • You will analyze facility contract work to identify and resolve issues associated with projects.
  • You will determine allocation of resources for facilities projects or programs.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Planning, organizing, and coordinating space utilization to determine proper balance between resource requirements and availability; 2) Making recommendations to assign buildings, classrooms, and training areas to maximize asset utilization; 3) Developing, reviewing, and coordinating administrative space modification requests and building alterations/ repairs; 4) Coordinating and overseeing work performance by Public Works and Facility personnel for trouble calls and minor work within the command.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration
or
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a doctoral degree in engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration
or

or
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience

This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585.

Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions.

A 40-hour work week is typical for this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work involves inter-building travel and inspection in and about Command facilities. Requires some physical exertion such as; standing, stair climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, use of step ladders, bending, crouching and stooping, reaching, stretching, or similar activities. Also, some sedentary office work is involved.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed in an office setting. Occasional travel may be required. Work occasionally calls for exposure to less than normal standards involving inspection and planning in building or facility mechanical rooms, basement utility and power distribution vaults, and exposure to dirt, dust, and other environmental irritants.
