Duties

Help
  • Assists the Fitness Facility Manager in the overall management and operation of a fitness facility. Assists with the scheduling and outreach of organizational units at the facility. Submits recommendations for budgetary and manpower requirements.
  • Assists in the assessment of facility requirements and helps develop plans and specifications for projects to augment or replace fitness and sports facilities. Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in the publicizing sports facilities, programs and events by drafting articles for local newspapers and as instructed by supervisor coordinates with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material.
  • Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Assists with recommendations for the purchase/construction of equipment and facilities.
  • Conducts classes and walks all facility rooms to provide guidance as appropriate. Instructs customers and monitors proper usage of equipment, as needed.

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Must complete the following courses/classes: MWR Orientation Course; Customer Service; Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).

Qualifications

Minimally Qualification Requirements:
Possesses directly related work experience that includes the demonstrated ability to carry-out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.

Highly Qualifying Criteria
1. Candidates who possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and work experience as identified above.

2. Possession of a nationally identified Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are NOT AUTHORIZED, based on a determination that a PCS move IS NOT in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives WILL NOT be paid.
Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials WILL NOT be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
