Duties

Help
  • You will serve as software specialist performing work that involves applying IT analytical processes to the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, and implementation in support of new or existing software.
  • You will be involved with the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation, and support of new or existing range applications software.
  • You will independently perform duties in the software development; data computation, software implementation, maintenance, and retention process.
  • You will perform feasibility studies which involves evaluating proposals, requirements and roadmaps regarding modification, feature delivery, or replacement of new software, platform, and infrastructure.
  • You will troubleshoot and resolve minor application, software, infrastructure, and/or platform problems.
  • You will respond to trouble reports from experienced/senior specialists and organizational users. Troubleshoot application design, code, security, and logic to resolve design and implementation issues.
  • You will analyze and evaluate range operational tests requirements, determine/recommend hardware configurations for data collection, operating systems, and application software requirements; develop detailed test plans, and direct the activities.
  • You will perform tasks related to the data analytics and processing systems (Data Reduction from vehicle GPS, range instrumentation data such as Optics, Radar, Real Time, Targets, and Telemetry).
  • You will plan and execute life cycle computer software development and management for assigned information systems.
  • You will perform IS development, modification and maintenance of range hardware and software in support of range schedule operations.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

GS-11
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector executing and implementing software development projects to produce an efficient range application software package for the support of range operations.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify for the GS-11 Grade Level with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

GS-09

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with the execution or implementation of software development projects to produce an efficient range application software package for the support of range operations.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify for the GS-09 Grade Level with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree

OR

OR

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

GS-07
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing support with execution or implementation of software development projects to produce an efficient range application software package for the support of range operations.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify for the GS-07 Grade Level with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

1 full year of graduate level education

OR

superior academic achievement
