Term - Renewable Term, Not to Exceed (NTE) 6 years. This position may be extended, without limit, in up to six year increments and may be made permanent.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
This appointment is subject to completion of 3 years trial period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements.
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement up to 10% of the time.
This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test screening and random drug testing after that.

Basic Requirements for FACILITY OPERATIONS SPECIALIST (1640):
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Executing various facility repairs and/or renovation projects associated with building-wide systems such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and/or plumbing; (2) Identifying areas that require repairs and/or contacting vendors to obtain repair estimates; and; (3) Communicating with stakeholders about the status of repairs and/or any necessary disruptions to regular operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service DE-01 (GS-1/8 Equivalent).

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Property Management, Engineering or Industrial Arts.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade DE-01 (GS-1/8 Equivalent).

This is a 6-year Renewable Term position scheduled to last 6 years in accordance with Federal Register Vol. 82, No. 178. This position may be extended, without limit, in up to six-year increments and may be made permanent without further competition pending upon the needs of management.
This appointment is covered by a Laboratory Personnel Demonstration Project.
This appointment requires the selectee to sign the Statement of Understanding-Conditions of Term Appointment prior to the start date.
