As a ASSISTANT TO CHIEF OPERATIONS you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Serves as Operations Assistant supporting the Operations Manager performing all tasks associated with Inventory Management operations.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding personnel security and suitability systems.
  • Provides advice to supervisor on issues and problems related to adjudication service and support operations and work accomplishment.
  • Plans and schedules work in a manner promoting a smooth flow and even distribution of inventory.
  • Ensures adjudication services required for personnel security and suitability mission accomplishment are maintained at acceptable service levels.

  • The position is located in the Department of Defense, Adjudication and Vetting Services (AVS), Operations Division at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland.

  • Although telework is authorized, in office requirement is six to eight days per pay period.
  • Must be Contracting Officer Representative (COR) certified within 60 days of hiring.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or ho1idays and/or overtime.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station.

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position.

You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade (GS/GG-12) in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility.

Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: planning and scheduling tasks associated with adjudicative operations; tracking and managing current status of change requests submitted to adjudicative service providers; Developing and proposing work plans including setting and adjusting short and long-term priorities; balancing workload and providing personnel security and suitability adjudicative support requirement advice, guidance, and direction; keeping metrics and analyzing adjudicative systems ensuring actions are timely and reviewed at critical points; Developing, assessing and revising policies and procedures as needed to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of service operations; Responding to inquiries regarding adjudicative systems.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
