Duties

Help
  • Operate an industrial-type, rubber-tired and/or field type tractor with attachments to mow grass and perform typical farm-field type operations.
  • Perform mill work, construct framing, and make items such as benches, partitions, frames, and tables.
  • Brush out, roll on, and spray coating materials and apply other methods and techniques, such as cutting-in techniques and dip and overflow methods.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipe and tile, and caulk and seal such things as elbows, union joints, tile pipe, faucets, and shower drains.
  • Remove, clean, reinstall, or replace joints and fixtures, such as traps, faucets, and unions.
  • Install and operate fixtures, such as light switches, circuit breakers, fuses, and outlets.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee is required to have his/her name on a call out list and be called back to work during non-duty hours (including weekends) to support emergency situations or make emergency repairs.
  • May require occasional shift work.
  • This position comes under the Drug Abuse Testing Program and the incumbent will be tested in accordance with AR 600-85. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R.
  • Employee will handle hazardous waste and must successfully complete training in hazardous waste management procedures within six (6) months after appointment to this position.
  • Employee will occasionally be required to work with and around asbestos materials. They will receive asbestos removal training; and be required to take pre-placement, annual and termination medical examinations in accordance with CFR 1910. 1001.
  • Employee will be fitted with a respirator equipped for the type of asbestos being exposed to; and will receive and wear other protective clothing as required.
  • Must obtain and maintain valid state driver's license.
  • Employee is required to have, or obtain within 6 months after job appointment, the required state and federal government licenses and certifications and maintain licenses and certifications for duration of employment in position.

Qualifications

About the Position: The Joint Munitions Command provides the Joint Force with ready, reliable, lethal munitions at the speed of war. JMC's mission is to support the production, storage, distribution, and demilitarization of munitions. This position serves as a Maintenance Worker located at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, which is a subordinate installation of JMC.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common carpentry, plumbing, and painting trades; apply woodworking techniques and basic shop mathematics, use measuring tapes, squares, levels, and other carpentry tools to plan, lay out, measure, cut, construct and install materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications; prepare surface for painting and coat methods and techniques; remove, clean, reinstall, or replace joints and fixtures, such as traps, faucets, and unions; hook up equipment, such as water heaters and disposal units and use plumbing equipment such as tapes, rules, hacksaws, hand and power pipe threaders and cutters. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.


Physical Effort:
Individual will work from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms for cramped and hard-to-reach places. Work may require individual to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Occasionally lifts and carries items that weigh about 45 pounds and heavier weights with assistance.

Working Conditions:
Work is performed inside and outside. Dirt, spray, and fumes are usually present. Sometimes the individual will be required to work outside in bad weather; e.g., snow removal. Individual may be required to wear protective equipment and clothing that are sometimes heavy and uncomfortable; e.g., safety shoes, goggles, safety belt, respirator, etc. Individual may also be exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones.
