Duties

Help
  • You will provide clinical services to families and individuals that are victims or perpetrators of abuse.
  • You will utilize skills in assessments and make appropriate referrals and follow-up for cases of family violence.
  • You will provide education with the goal of reducing violent incidents.
  • You will provide case management functions.
  • You will provide training to the unit Family Advocate Program leadership.
  • You will present cases to the clinical care staff meetings.
  • You will participate in developing required services when needs are identified.
  • You will assist the command and emergency response personnel during the cris stages of violent incidents.
  • You will assess the individual needs of each family and the needs of the command and provide the appropriate intervention and treatment referrals for family violence cases.
  • You will maintain confidential case files and the documentation necessary for evaluations for services.
  • You will provide psycho-educational group counseling for individuals identified as experiencing family violence. Prepare and conduct classes, workshops, and briefings.
  • You will provide short-term individual counseling and general non-medical related problems focus counseling; utilize available military and civilian referrals when appropriate.
  • You will provide intake, administrative and other duties assigned as assigned.
  • You will coordinate with civilian and military resources to identify at-risk families. Participate in activities in the local communities as they pertain to military families.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing clinical counseling to individuals and groups for the prevention and treatment of family violence, performing clinical case management to include risk assessment, safety planning, psycho-social assessment, treatment, and referral of child and spouse abuse cases; and maintaining confidential case files and documentation of evaluation services.

Education

Applicants MUST provide all relevant transcripts needed to verify education.Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:

Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position;

or

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field;

or

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on an equivalent combination of education and experience as follows:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

or

3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D.;

or

equivalent doctoral degree or LL.M., if related

or

a combination of specialized experience and education that equates to one year of experience.

This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
