Duties

Help
  • Perform operational tests on circuits, systems, networks, and equipment to ensure high quality and maximum efficiency and verifies the quality of the communication circuits, systems, networks, and equipment by using appropriate methods.
  • Responsible for conducting scheduled tests on all the backup equipment and reviewing the results with all concerned parties.
  • Maintain quality and continuity of communications by taking appropriate action to prevent or correct conditions adversely affecting communications circuits, systems, or networks within the NMCC-R.
  • Analyze, isolate, and identify problems in various types of complex interactive communication systems such as digital data, computer to terminal, analog, and audiovisual systems.
  • Record all time lost on inoperative circuits, systems, networks, and other pertinent information for use in analysis of outages.
  • Responsible for strict adherence to all proper security regulations, policies, and procedures to avoid a compromise of the various secure systems and their data.
  • Ensure that the team is kept abreast of all operational requirements.

  • Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is designated as Key. The position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the mission.
  • This position requires irregular hours on rotating shift.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by troubleshooting and testing equipment associated with circuits and systems; experience operating multiple types of secure equipment; and conducting scheduled test on current and back up equipment to ensure operability and maximums efficiency.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled.

OR

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
