Summary

This position is located in the Multi-Language Team, Division of Communications Support (DCS), Office of Public Inquiries and Communications Support (OPICS), Office of Communications (OCOMM). As a specialist, the incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, and marketing the agency's public information policies, programs, and activities designed to improve the level of knowledge and understanding among people who have limited English proficiency (LEP).

Duties

Help
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the agency's overall external communications and PI/PA activities.
  • Conducts English/Spanish translations and reviews.
  • Helps to develop and write public information materials covering basic and complex program areas designed to reach Spanish speaking people through various media.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of public information products intended for communities with LEP. Recommends revisions and improvements to better serve the population with LEP.

Qualifications

To qualify for this GS-12 position, the applicant must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level or equivalent that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled, and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must include: Translating and writing in Spanish to or for the public and evaluating public affairs programs in order to develop recommendations.
