Help
  • Directs and coordinates the preparation of various planning documents for the lake.
  • Coordinates and cooperates with other agencies, groups, individuals, and other District elements in various aspects of these programs.
  • Determines and approves short and long-range objectives that serve as the principal framework for determining budget and personnel requirements for the lake.
  • Implements management plans in close coordination with state and federal fish and wildlife management agencies.
  • Promotes the protection of threatened and endangered species through public information.
  • Resolves conflicts in potential use and current demands through redirection of resource use and management.
  • Supervises and/or provides oversight to a volunteer program, often integrating their work efforts with those of paid staff, contractors or other volunteer groups.
  • Responsible for the preparation, justification, and support of budgets, obligation and expenditure schedules and spreadsheets.
  • Provides estimates for personnel, equipment, materials, and supplies required to carry out an efficient operation and maintenance program for the project.
  • Plans, coordinates, assigns work to subordinates, and determines work schedules and priorities.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must wear the appropriate uniform for this position. The NRM uniform shall be worn in accordance with EP 1130-2-550 Chapter 8.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State motor vehicle operator's license prior to appointment.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain motor boat operator's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain citation authority. Incumbent must successfully complete the annual refresher training in order to maintain citation authority.
  • This position is covered by the civilian drug testing program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Natural Resources Management Specialist:

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes ensuring compliance with rules and regulations to include conducting safety briefings; developing and analyzing trend data to prepare informational reports; and executing programs related to natural resource and environmental education. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Biology.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
