Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for critical needs hiring to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position serves as a FSW within the Mat Sinking Unit. Incumbent will perform a variety of food service worker duties, either regularly or on a rotating basis.
NOTE: The duty location of this position will be wherever the MSU is located.
NOTE: This position is temporary NTE 8 months.

Duties

Help
  • Serve food and beverages as well as prepare simple food and assist in food preparation, as instructed.
  • Set and wait on tables.
  • Portion and serve food.
  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, glasses and silverware.
  • Unload and store food.
  • Sweep, wash, mop and buff floors in assigned areas such as: kitchen, dining area and living quarters.
  • Attend food counters.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker~ without more than normal supervision. Duties include: Cleaning equipment assigned to the work area for food preparation, operating equipment assigned to the area for food preparation, breaking down equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work frequently requires lifting, bending, and moving objects weighing up to 45 lbs. Constantly standing and walking is required.
  • Working Conditions: Workers are exposed to minor cuts, bruises, burns, and scraps; exposed to dirt, grease and water in cleaning tasks. There is danger of slipping on floors which are wet from daily mopping or where food or beverage has been dropped. Some workers are exposed to extreme temperatures of the hot kitchen and the walk-in refrigerator.
