The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado is searching for an Electronics Engineer (NH-0855-03, GS 12/13 Equivalent).

Description:
The Satellite Control Network (SCN) provides highly reliable command and control, communication, telemetry, and tracking for DoD and other federal agencies in support of multiple missions to include launch, surveillance, navigation, communication, and weather missions. The system of systems is comprised of a global 24/7 network that enables a growing inventory of space vehicles and missions to support operational forces.

As a SCN engineer, you will be responsible for conducting technical, successive activities with objectives and priorities to be identified by a supervisor or team lead to support organizational goals. Pioneering, developing, and delivering sustainable joint warfighting capabilities. Planning and carrying out assignments independently, applying expert knowledge and mastery of advanced engineering theories, principles, concepts, standards, and methods.

The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline. Have strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Self-starter with a positive attitude and a drive for excellence.

This advertisement may be used to fill multiple positions. Key vacancies will support the modernization and sustainment of the SCN by defining requirements, reviewing designs, supporting test events, and reviewing technical documentation as it relates to: 1) the Communications Segment, Network Engineering, and cloud initiatives and 2) the Range Segment, Radio Frequency signal processing, interfaces (e.g. VITA-49), and the control of this equipment (e.g. APIs).

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of professional electronics engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.
2. Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.
3. Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of electronic systems or devices.
4. Knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems; of standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; and of other engineering disciplines.
5. Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches, and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases, gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • This position is eligible for telework (4-6 days a pay period). Employee must reside within commuting distance of worksite.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for the position.
  • Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution in (specific discipline of position) or a closely related field is required.
  • PCS and Incentives are authorized.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • This position has been identified as a designated position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • Position will be closed after 5 business days or after 75 applications are received
