The United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg Space Force Base is searching for an Airfield Operations and Exercise Planner for 30 OSS (NH-0301-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).
Description:
Space Launch Delta 30 (SLD 30) commands the Western Spaceport and Test Range performing Department of Defense (DoD), civil, national security, and commercial space launch along with missile and aeronautical tests. SLD 30 provides host installation services to DoD, other government agencies, international allies, and commercial customers. The 30th Operations Support Squadron (30 OSS) needs a motivated individual capable of independently identifying tasks to be accomplished, determining courses of action and mission impacts, and presenting strategies to decision makers.
As 30 OSS's Airfield Operations and Exercise Planner, you will lead cross-organizational teams for the planning and execution of airfield-centric events to include satellite deliveries, weapons systems testing, and joint exercises. Additionally you will be responsible for:
- Coordinating with outside DoD, government, commercial, and international organizations to determine mission requirements.
- Managing programs necessary for safe and effective operations on the airfield.
- Analyzing and implementing relevant Department of the Air Force, FAA, and local policies and regulations.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, draw reasonable conclusions, devise solutions to complex problems, and identify changes and trends.
2. Knowledge and ability to conduct extensive long-range and short-range planning and analyses.
3. Knowledge and ability to coordinate DoD exercise planning, preparation and support.
4. Ability to communicate effectively (rapidly, clearly, and distinctly), both orally and in writing, to gain cooperation from others through tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.
5. Ability to interpret and translate applicable DoD, USAF, USSF, FAA and local regulations and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
6. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups within and outside immediate work unit including field-level representatives.
7. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
8. Knowledge of operational DOD, USAF, USSF, FAA, and local Airfield Traffic Control and Airfield Management directives, instructions, and equipment.
9. Ability in performing studies and systematically analyze a wide variety of complex problems within established time constraints
10. Knowledge of military aviation operations and requirements.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
This position is eligible for telework 2-4 days a pay period.
