Duties

Help
  • Oversee programs and services addressing the financial literacy and preparedness needs and challenges of service members and their families.
  • Serve as or supervises the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for a multimillion-dollar worldwide program that provides support for military Service members; ensure contractors meet the commitment of their contracts.
  • Develop contract and budget alternatives, define necessity for change, document mission accomplishments and ensure effective use of resources.
  • Review completed official contract file to ensure all contractual requirements are satisfied.
  • Investigate potential problem areas of programs and policies addressing the professional and personal financial education needs of service members to develop solutions or new program objectives.
  • Nurture relationships with stakeholders who have vested interests in improving quality of life and/or the financial readiness of service members.
  • Oversee the Department’s effort in carrying out the Military Lending Act (MLA) (10 U.S.C. § 987) and the regulation implementing the MLA (32 C.F.R. Part 232).

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing and/or evaluating personnel programs to include those addressing financial literacy and preparedness, developing policy for financial education and counseling programs, developing contracts and/or budgets alternatives to ensure effective use of resources, reviewing contract terms and/or monitoring contractor performance, and supervising employees and/or leading teams. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
