Duties

Help

The incumbent will:

  • Designs and conducts information sessions, workshops, seminars and courses on various technology-related topics.  Identifies, evaluates and aggregates training materials from a variety of sources.  Creates custom documentation and workshops for internal audiences.  Provides ongoing support to employees, post-training, assisting them in applying new skills and technologies effectively in their work environment. Develops and designs user training and course materials for new Windows, Mac and mobile device applications using a variety of instructional design methodologies: web-based, print-based and instructor-guided online (blended).  Remains current in the areas of instructional design methodologies through continuing education and conferences.
  • Evaluates relevant emerging technologies that have potential value for adult learning.  Build and maintain effective relationships with other departments and develop content that supports user needs.  Coordinates with departments to ensure there is broad input, involvement, and endorsement of changes.  Analyzes applications usage including cost and, when appropriate, recommends alternative applications.  Develops and administers evaluation metrics to assess the effectiveness of technology training programs, using feedback to make continuous improvements.  Documents internal processes and procedures.  Contributes to the development of the learning management system as it applies to providing Windows, Mac and mobile device training.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of a wide range of software, hardware, and other technology tools and platforms relevant to the National Gallery of Art. Show a high level of adaptability to learn new technologies quickly and update training programs to reflect technological advancements. Expert in the use of M365 applications, Adobe Creative Suite, FileMaker. Proficient in the use of Power Automate and Power BI. Expert in the use of SharePoint to create, edit and set permissions within sites. Prior knowledge or experience with ServiceNow is desired.

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-1712-12.

For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, designing educational materials using adult learning principles.

  2. Program Development – Ability to develop, evaluate, and administer an education program that is constantly changing with emerging technologies.
  3. Information Technology – Skill in a variety of Information technology principles, concepts, and functions.

Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:

Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
Supervising or administering a training program.
Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
