Duties

Help

  • Operates full service coffee bar. Prepares a wide range of drinks including but not limited to; lattes, espresso, Americana, and cappuccinos by selecting the proper grind of coffee shot and following set recipes for each individual variation of drink.
  • Prepares heats and serves made-to-order food menu items such as but not limited to: paninis, baguettes, hot dogs, and sandwiches while following all food handling requirements.
  • Must be able to follow basic cappuccino requirement of each type of drink including but not limited to; preheating the portafilter, knowing the difference in grinds of coffee, knowing how long should a shot take to brew into a cup, preheating the cup, how to "pull' and "tamp" in to the portafilter, difference in frothing and steaming milk, and able to know difference and relay information to customers on the difference in drink choices.
  • Performs receiving and disbursing cashier duties.
  • Sets up cappuccino bar for operation and obtains cash bank.
  • Prepares documentation for cash funds accountability.
  • Maintains area to ensure that it is neat and clean.
  • Cleans work surface /area and bar equipment and utensils.
  • Collects and transferstrash form work area to disposal area.
  • Stocks service bars and assists supervisor on duty if necessary.
  • Sets up and maintains work area in a neat and clean manner.
  • Operates dishwasher; scrapes, soaks, scours dishes and utensils.
  • Performs heavy duty cleaning tasks as required in the work area (floors, walls, ceilings) and on/under/behind equipment including coffee machines and refrigerators.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The area of consideration for this vacancy announcement is citizens, permanent residents, and legal residents of the United States (US) who reside within the local commuting area (60 mile radius) of RAF Croughton, United Kingdom (UK).

Permanent and legal residents of the US must be citizens of a NATO country, unless authorized to reside in the UK as a dependent of an employee who serves in support of the US Visiting Forces.

Eligible applicants must possess a US-issued social security number and be able to provide documentation proving residency status in the UK. Documentation could include PCS Orders, UK Visa, etc.

Applicants cannot be 'ordinarily resident'. A person is considered to be 'ordinarily resident' if they have resided in the United Kingdom (UK) for more than 366 days without an affiliation to the US Visiting Forces. Time spent in the UK as an employee, or dependent of an employee, of a US agency serving and supporting the US Visiting Forces (i.e., active duty military, federal civilian, AAFES, Red Cross, one of the contract universities, a military banking facility or federal credit union, or US government contractors) is not counted toward being 'ordinary resident'.

In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between the US and the UK, British citizens may not apply for US NAF positions; however, they may be eligible to apply for local national positions on base.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
  • Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines.
  • Must be skilled in doing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks.
  • Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food and beverages, and for cleaning equipment and work area.
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to continuously stand and walk, and frequently stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long
    periods of time.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
  • Must be able satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical
  • May be required to work an uncommon tour of duty (evenings, weekends, and holidays).
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand the English language well.
  • Must demonstrate good customer service skills.
  • Must obtain a Food Handlers certificate.
  • Able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Investigation.
