Duties

Help
  • Performs a range of technical financial functions to update loan activity and processes a variety of financial transactions for exception processing on RD’s nationwide loan portfolio.
  • Researches, audits and reconciles difficult and complex financial transaction histories and financial entries resulting from a variety of sources such as tasks, borrower inquires, external customers.
  • Maintains and analyzes servicing system reports for special analysis and to maintain servicing system data integrity.
  • Consults with users and considers existing problems and constraints and recommends courses of action.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Time in grade: Applicants must meet one year at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade. (e.g.: one year at the GS-06 grade level for consideration for the GS-07 grade level).

For the GS-7 Grade Level: Applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level; or its non-Federal equivalent that demonstrates experience in accounting methods, procedures, and techniques to conduct analysis within a complete accounting system; ability to research and resolve discrepancies; and experience in preparing necessary documentation to correct errors.

No substitution of education at this grade level.

This position may be eligible to telework up to four days per week, based upon the duties of the position. This position may also be eligible for flexible work arrangements as determined by agency policy and any applicable collective bargaining agreements.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Applications will be evaluated in accordance with Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Delegated Examining Procedures and USDA policy using category rating. Applicants who meet basic minimum qualifications will be placed in one of two or three categories: Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified. Within these categories, applicants eligible for veteran's preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans. Category placement will be determined based on applicants' quality of experience and the extent they possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) or competencies:

  • Application of accounting procedures related to loan and grant programs and services
  • Oral Communication
  • Research, analyze data, and interpret procedures
  • Written Communication
