Help
  • Provides technical assistance and support on the review of project plans and specifications to determine site compatibility and anticipated problems.
  • Coordinates with other contractors, private concerns and government agencies involved to preclude conflicts of interests or jurisdictional disputes and to maintain effective public relations on assigned construction projects.
  • Observes all construction phases to insure compliance with contract schedules, specifications and shop drawings; identify actual or potential problems and determine necessity for changes or remedial action.
  • Investigates need for contract change orders, controversies which could lead to formal claims by the contractor, deviations requiring engineering determination and other matters.
  • Makes on-the-spot decisions and commitments to avoid delays in construction with respect to minor changes in construction, deviations from schedules, substitution of materials, and resolution of disputes over the acceptability of work.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Monitoring construction quality such as adherence to approved production schedule or proper installation of material components; AND 2) Analyzing various phases of construction to ensure compliance with contract specifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 5 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
  • Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term Appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term Appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
