Duties

Help
  • You will write articles and/or edit and rewrite submissions from contributors ranging from informative news items to full-length feature stories.
  • You will gather, develop, and check the accuracy of information through research and skilled interview techniques with subject matter experts.
  • You will work closely with sponsoring directorates to plan content of promotional material, which may include magazines, web-based stories, safety bulletins, lessons, learned, brochures, social media postings, etc.
  • You will determine visual appearance, design, layout, and graphic composition of magazines and other print and web-based material.
  • You will assist webmaster by helping improve the appearance and functionality of web content for seasonal campaigns and other aspects of safety promotions.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience developing, analyzing, and selecting appropriate information and presenting the information in a form and at a level suitable for the intended audience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the federal service, or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1.) Producing creative, informative, and readable media products; 2.) Creating visually appealing web content that is attractive and effective using software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and SharePoint; 3.) Interviewing subjects who are sometimes reluctant to share information; 4.) Analyzing data and research in order to produce strategic marketing content, communicating risk management information; 5.) Engaging contributing writers and technical advisors in identifying the needs of magazine readers, web visitors, or any other audience. 6) Actively acquisition, copy edit, produce, print, market and distribute information to the specific audiences and the public.
