Duties

Help
  • You will organize and direct USINDOPACOM operational deliberate planning and execution coordination events and guide the development of time-sensitive plans and orders.
  • You will serve as advisor and military operations expert to the Command and J35 Division Chief for Future Operations, for all aspects of DoD Military Operations.
  • You will serve as the Operational Planning Team leader during Crisis Action Planning.
  • You will develop operations plans and orders, guidance, and execution coordination directives.
  • You will develop Joint Operational Concepts Commander's Estimates, Concept of Operations, Flexible Response Options, Flexible Deterrence Operations, Force requirements, and Rules of Engagement.
  • You will develop, manage, and coordinate specific Phase 0 (Competition) and crisis response planning for USINDOPACOM.
  • You will lead the development, writing, and briefing of INDOPACOM planning documents and directives.
  • You will serve as Strategic/Operational Advisor for military strategic documents, operational plans, and annexes.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You may be required to perform occasional travel.
  • You must have the ability to work in a time constrained environment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate that you have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying advanced principles, concepts, methods, standards, and procedures for developing and interpreting policies, procedures, and strategies performing the following:
1) Producing high level written products (Info Papers, Operations Orders, etc.) for senior officials/leadership decision making in time constrained environments.
2) Working with high level policy/strategy and operational planning
3) Leading the application of problem framing and planning processes (i.e. Operational Design, Joint Operations Planning Process, Military or Corporate Decision Making Process) to solve complex strategic or operational level problems in a time constrained environment.
4) Providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations on issues.
5) Making recommendations that significantly influence policies and programs.

Additional information

You will serve as an Operational Plans and Program Manager within the Future Operations Division (J35), Operations Directorate (J3), Headquarters, United States Indo-Pacific Command (HQ USINDOPACOM). The Operations Directorate plans, directs and supervises all aspects of military deployments and operations throughout the US Indo-Pacific Command Area of Responsibility in order to deter aggression, advance regional security cooperation and promote peaceful development in the Asia-Pacific region and if necessary, respond to crisis and fight to win.

Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions.

This position is eligible for part time, full time or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

Relocation expenses or relocation incentives as described in 5 USC 5753 may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.

Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
