Duties

Help
  • Attend DoD and civilian academic conferences and reports on the findings and recommendations.
  • Monitor master's in military arts and science (MMAS) and School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) graduate academic activities to ensure compliance with Army University directives and policy guidance.
  • Serve on WHINSEC education boards and committees for the advancement of educational goals of SPME and the Noncommissioned Officer Academy (NCOA).
  • Coordinate directly with representatives from civilian educational institutions for the establishment of formal educational linkages and Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) that provide educational opportunities for SPME students, staff and faculty.
  • Coordinate program evaluation and assessment of academic programs in conjunction with WHINSEC Quality Assurance Office (QAO).
  • Formulate academic strategy, oversees curriculum review and integration between SPME and Training and Education Development Division, Education Technology Division, and Army University in accordance with all applicable Army policies.
  • Oversee School of Professional Military Education (SPME) curriculum review; integration; assessment and evaluation; academic research; and academic outreach activities associated with SPME Professional Military Education (PME).

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
  • The work involves physical effort typical of teaching positions, with substantial platform instruction. The work is normally performed in classrooms and offices at Fort Moore or extended campus sites.
  • Incumbent must possess a Doctorate degree (Ph.D, Ed.D, D.D.SC, etc.) in any relevant discipline from a regionally accredited university or college.
  • Incumbent must be a graduate of any U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. sponsored Intermediate Level Education Course or Command and General Staff Officer Course or its equivalents.

Basic Requirement for Assistant Dean of Academics (Bilingual):

REQUIREMENTS FOR DEAN OF ACADEMICS: You MUST possess a DOCTORATE DEGREE from a regionally accredited college or university in an appropriate field supportive of the position.(NOTE: You must submit official copies of your doctorate transcripts to your application. If you fail to attach transcripts before the closing date of this announcement, your application will be incomplete and you will be removed from consideration for this position).

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes leading an education department or program at the Federal or State level; Leading a curriculum development or curriculum integration department in a military school; Instructing in a military school.

Selective Placement Factor: This position requires the incumbent to read, write and speak in both Spanish and English, fluently.

If you are currently serving on active duty: You must submit a certification from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active-duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions not later than 120 days after the date the certification is submitted for consideration in the hiring process. The certification must show the characterization of your discharge (Honorable, General, etc.). Prior to appointment, the service member's character of service and qualifying discharge or release must be verified through a DD Form 214 or equivalent documentation.
