Duties

Help

  • Performs a variety of simple cooking duties, from periodic/semi-repetitive menus.
  • Maintains all kitchen areas in clean and sanitary manner.
  • Receives general cooking assignments from supervisor and normally performs daily cooking tasks with considerable independence.
  • Uses and adjusts recipes for quantity cooking of necessary number of servings of main courses.
  • Works alone or with part-time helper.
  • Washes/sterilizes dishes, pots and pans.
  • Places unused/leftover food items in refrigerator with label and date.
  • Empties trash containers cabinets, exhaust ventilator hood/screen, etc.

  • This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers certification, within specified time from date of hire or assignment to the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Experience or training in commercial food preparation. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds and stand and walk for long periods of time. Must obtain Food Handler's Card and certification in infant/child CPR and Basic First Aid. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
