Serve as a Network Analyst on a U.S Army Cyber Protection Team (CPT) in the U.S. Army Cyber Protection Brigade (CPB).
Conduct hunt operations on live networks or packet captures to increase overall defensive posture against malicious cyber security threats.
Recommend changes to network infrastructure in order to channelize traffic for efficient data collection and/or network access control lists (ACLs) on specialized Cyberspace Defense (CD) systems such as firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.
Coordinate with network owners, local network defenders, and DoD Cyber Security Service Providers to develop methods for timely and accurate incident reporting and effective implementation of defensive countermeasures.
Attend meetings and working groups, which requires routine and recurring access to Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 30% of the time. Incumbent may be required to travel in the contiguous United States (CONUS) or Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
Incumbent must undergo and successfully complete an initial and periodic Counter-Intelligence Polygraph (CI Poly) examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
Incumbent may be assigned to work in an NSA facility and may be required to obtain and maintain access to NSA facilities and networks.
Duties of this position may entail alternative work schedules (AWS) such as variable or MAXIFLEX, including extended shifts; 24/7 rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and/or and holidays as required.
Incumbent is subject to recalled for urgent situations; and/or working extended overtime in response to surge situations.
Incumbent is subject to extended Temporary Duty Tavel (TDY) during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management, which may include deployment, immunizations, passport, and related requirements.
Incumbent is required to successfully complete all applicable preparation courses.
Incumbent must obtain and maintain Information Assurance (IA)/cybersecurity certification compliance in accordance with Cyber Workforce Management Program (DoD Directive 8140.01 and DoD 8570.01-m) within six (6) months of hire.
This position is subject to situational or ad hoc telework. Telework agreement required.
