Assessment and Evaluation. Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of AD programs in support of graduation, accreditation, cadet development, program effectiveness, process improvement, and permanent party professional development. Designs and executes internal AD assessment and research-related survey tools to examine the effectiveness of AD programs, including USAFA Physical Education (PE), Fitness Testing, Reconditioning, Competitive Sports (Intercollegiate, Intramural, Extramural, and Clubs), Physical Education Review Committee, and other AD programs. Works under the guidance of the PE Department Head to formulate, plan, direct, and carry out to completion a variety of analyses and/or work as a team member on specific problems of major studies and as part of institutional accreditation efforts. Establishes assumptions, measures the effectiveness of approaches, and evaluates available alternatives. Identifies and structures the study(s) and defines objectives. Uses innovation to apply various analytical techniques to formulate and solve problems and develop comprehensive assessment plans and reports. Provides for the continued education of, but not limited to, cadets, faculty, and other mission elements. Provides periods of instruction in collaboration with the department. Executes assessment and evaluates instruction and curriculum. Validates conclusions, compiles, organizes, and analyzes data. Presents findings, documenting lessons learned as best practices for use in echelons of decision making.
Technical Advisor. Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance. Analyzes and provides narrative and qualitative post-assessment reports to include findings, lessons learned, and best practices on AD internal programs. Provides feedback and results to program directors, division chiefs, and curriculum developers, to include recommendations for improvements. Consults with AD, ADP, ADPV, ADP Division Chiefs, Area Coordinators, Sport Administrators, and other USAF Academy leaders and advises on Directorate and institutional level assessment tools to measure the Academy's effectiveness in developing "leaders of character" through the athletic pillar. Performs studies/evaluations on an individual basis or as a team member responsible for completing defined portions of an overall work effort. Promotes information interchange on mission requirements, capabilities, deficiencies, and technology applications. Analyzes problems revealed by prior studies and advises leaders of the feasibility of different approaches that provide a basis for action or the solution to a specific problem.
Service and Administration. Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts and represents AD to support institutional assessment. Works within cross-functional mission organizations on assessment findings and proposals, including duties as assigned related to unit self-assessment and continuous process improvement. Coordinates broader institutional assessment requirements with mission element managers. Represents the organization during visits with government, academic, and athletic representatives. Coordinates the contributions of professionals and specialists, notes problems that arise, and resolves differences. Prepares and presents briefings on Directorate progress and results. Prepares technical reports and/or documents progress and results of each study. Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, research, and development (R&D) organizations by reading/reviewing technical journals and current literature, and participating in formal training programs.
This position may require travel on military and commercial charter aircraft.
This position may require working some evenings and weekends, including during holidays.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a Bachelor's of Science degree from an accredited institution in physical education, operations research, assessment, mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences, engineering or a closely related scientific discipline is highly desired. Master's degree or higher is preferred. The position is not tenure-track eligible.

Must have three years' experience in college-level academic and/or program assessment with data analysis and presentation. 3 years of college teaching experience in physical education, human performance, character development, or related field preferred.

Leadership experience in curriculum development and academic assessment is desired.

Applicants will be assessed based on education, academic and program assessment experience and expertise, quality of scholarship, and demonstrated service to educational institutions and the discipline commensurate with years in the discipline.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the educational requirements. However, you must show proof that the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying in the form of an "official" statement of U.S. equivalency from a Department of Education approved (non-federal) agency (i.e. AICE, NACES), who will complete a U.S. Standard of Education Conversion.
