Duties

Help
  • Works alone or in a group performing a variety of task involving the maintenance and repair of recreational grounds, buildings and structures, and appurtenant fixtures.
  • Duties require the use of trade practices associated with carpentry and painting as well as work involving motor vehicle operations.
  • As needed, replaces worn or broken wall switches and outlets. Replaces ceiling light and/or burned-out bulbs. Repairs faucets, resets toilets, and lavatories. Performs other easily accomplished repairs.
  • Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc. moves heavy boxes/cartons by hand or dolly; opens crates and boxes using a crowbar, stacks boxes and cartons s directed. Moves and arranges furniture.
  • Shovels snow from sidewalks and path. May be required to drive vehicles up to and including a 5-ton truck to move furniture, etc. to various buildings on the installation.

Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner.
Demonstrated skills in successfully operating standard tools.
Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.

FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
