This position reports to the Director, Division of Quality Assurance.

Help

Coordinate the Agency Credentialing and Privileging Program: Lead the coordination for the Agency Credentialing and Privileging Program, in conjunction with subject matter experts from Area Offices and Service Units in varied and appropriate professional disciplines representative of those professions eligible for clinical privileges; serve as the Agency Subject matter expert on Credentialing and Privileging functions as it pertains to Medical Staff (MS) processes and accreditation standards, regulations and laws, and as a consultant on MS accreditation programs.-

Manage the Agency Credentialing and Privileging Software:
Interface with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR), software vendor and the Office of Information Technology pertaining to hardware issues impacting the function of credentialing and privileging software. Oversee and coordinate training of Credentialists at Area Offices and Service Units on use of the approved credentialing and privileging software system.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Health System Administration Series 0671 (opm.gov)

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

GS-12 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector.

Qualifying examples of specialized experience must include but is not limited to:

  1. Experience processing medical staff credentialing requests of new medical staff providers and re-credentialing of current providers, AND;
  2. Experience advising hiring managers on credentialing and privileging processes/procedures for medical staff and providers, , AND;
  3. Experience using automated credentialing software to manage workload.
GS-13 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-12) level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector.

Qualifying examples of specialized experience must include but is not limited to:
  1. Experience managing medical staff credentialing and privilege of practice program functions requiring the assessment and verification of medical staff credentials, AND;
  2. Experience leading or managing medical credentialing and privilege of practice program functions; to include the development/revision of policies, draft of opinion determinations and establishment of new/updating to standardized processes and procedures, AND;
  3. Experience leveraging automated credentialing and privilege of practice systems to improve credentialing/privileging processes.
Selective Placement Factor:
In addition to the minimum requirements, the following certification is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of a particular position. Applicants who do not meet a selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration. Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) verification.

Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.

This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.

This position has promotion potential to the GS-12 grade level. Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your demonstrated ability to perform the higher level duties, the continuing need for the higher level duties, and "Regulatory/Administrative" approval. Promotion to the next higher grade level is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.
