  • REALTY POSITIONS ONLY-1170: Selectees w/less than 3 years exp. as a Realty Spec. (GS-1170) are req'd to attend a 3-part Lands and Realty Academy at BLM's National Training Center. Failure to complete/pass this Academy may result in your termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications for the 1170 Realty Specialist at the GS-07: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:

  • Calculating and determining routine realty and lands cost recovery.
  • Participating in routine on-site compliance examinations on rights-of-way, permits, and other use authorizations.
  • Assisting with inventory of existing realty actions as well as monitoring budget plan packages.
  • Assisting with preparing responses to routine and non-controversial inquiries concerning use, occupancy, disposal, and other actions on public land.
OR

You must havesuccessfully completed 1 full year of related graduate level education.

OR

You must possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience (as in A above) and education (as in B above) that, when prorated, combine to meet the qualification requirements for this position. I will provide a copy of my transcripts to support this.

OR

You must meet the requirements for superior academic achievement and meet one of the following: A grade point average of B (3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for your completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study; A grade-point average of B+ (3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all course in the major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study; Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision; or Membership in a national honor society (other than fresh honor societies (recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. If more than 10 percent of your courses were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim must be based on class standing or membership in an honorary society.


Minimum Qualifications for the 1170 Realty Specialist at the GS-09: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:
  • Calculating and determining routine realty and lands cost recovery.
  • Leading or conducting routine on-site compliance examinations on rights-of-way, permits, and other use authorizations.
  • Conducting inventory of existing realty actions as well as monitoring budget plan packages.
  • Preparing responses to routine and non-controversial inquiries concerning use, occupancy, disposal, and other actions on public land.
OR

You must possess two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree OR master's or equivalent graduate degree, if related.

OR

You must possess an equivalent combination of the type and level of experience and education described above.
